playkia I quickly looked at the Android source and yeah, it's vanilla stream loading for SoundPool, nothing special.
That said, if people are having any issues with the sound, it is 90% because their device, whatever the case is.
Sound on Android is one thing that can make or break an app because as I said, all devices handle it slightly different through the OS layer, this is the layer that can introduce pops and clicks. (virtually un-testable for all devices)
Other than that, make sure bit depth and sample rate are correct with the sounds you are using for the SoundPool.
