I could not find this property in Starling 2.0 anymore, what is the alternative?
Where did particleSystem.maxNumParticles go in Starling 2.0(9 posts) (4 voices)
Starling-Extension-Particle-System ? The class ParticleSystem defines MAX_NUM_PARTICLES = 16383, is that what you are looking for?
I think what you're looking for is the "capacity"! I think I merged those two properties when I upgraded the code for Starling 2.
Thanks Daniel, I warped my head around trying to figure out what was the alternative, maxNum was more obvious though.
Agreed, that's easy to overlook.
Sorry for the troubles!
I'm currently upgrading an old game from Starling 1.7 to 2.1
To update went rather smooth, but now I ran into this maxNumParticles issue as well...
I used to update this variable at runtime to be able to set the intensity of some of my Particle systems. I'm not sure if this was intentional or just some sort of hack to be able to augment/decrement the amount of particles in the system during runtime.
When I change the variable from maxNumParticles to capacity I get a run time error causing my game to crash :/
RangeError: Error #1125: The index 96 is out of range 80.
Is there another way to accomplish what I'm trying to do here ?

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see your message last time!
I just fixed the error. When you pull the latest version of the particle system, you can downsize the capacity without causing an exception.
Thanks for the nice words, BTW!
In the future, if I don't reply right away in the forum, just create an issue at the Git project page. I'll be notified of the problem then!Posted 2 weeks ago #
