Hello all. I'm trying to use Feathers to build a scrolling list of items which include both text and pictures. The pictures are loaded from the net, and it can be a long list of items, so I can't wait until all images are loaded so I can upload them as textures to the GPU so they can be used by Feathers.
Ideally the list should be presented to the user before any image has loaded (or maybe just 2 or 3 images have loaded) and then load the images while the list is being used, as would happen in a standard HTML browser.
I can use pagination, but still each page might contain 20 items or so, and 20 pictures still may take a long time to load, plus this process repeats every time you go to the next page.
The only thing I can load in advance is text, so how can I create a scrolling list in which the user can already scroll through the list, seeing the text of the items, while images are being loaded? The list items have placeholder pictures while the actual picture of each item is loading. After a particular picture has loaded, the placeholder for that item is substituted with the loaded image. All should happen while the user is browsing through the list.
So how can this be achieved with Feathers? Is this possible at all? I mean, each time you upload new pictures to the GPU, the whole app halts for a bit, which, even it's a brief pause, it's not desirable, especially if this will happen constantly as new images are being loaded.
Thanks for your help!
