3rd Party Rendering Inside Starling?

I've been exploring a variety of rendering options via Stage3D without using Starling. But now I'm wondering if there is a way to latch into Starling and have both interact? The generic order would be something like...

Starling clears the device, [my custom rendering behind Starling], starling renders, starling presents.

Is this possible? If so... details if possible. Thank you.

Since it sounds like you are planning on staying in the Stage3D world and want to combine rendering with Starling, I would suggest checking out this section of Starling documentation which shows how this might work (using two instances of Starling as an example):

There is a link on that page also mentioning an example of combining Away3D and Starling but it looks to be broken, if you search this forum for "Away3D" there are a few discussions about combining the two, or this Away3D tutorial here:

These should at least describe how you would change and manage the Stage3D context for rendering.
