Hey everyone,
I know โ itโs been a while! ๐
2025 was a very busy year for me, and Starling is โ as you all know โ still competing with quite a few other projects for my time. That said, there were commits in 2025, and I also had the pleasure of approving some really great contributions from you. So Iโm planning to tag the current head revision as v2.8 soon.
That shouldnโt be a big deal โ in theory. In practice, getting the website build pipeline running again (just for the blog post) might beโฆ wellโฆ interesting. Ahem. ๐
But Iโm getting ahead of myself. What I actually wanted to announce today is this:
๐ All chapters from the Starling Handbook have now been fully merged into the Starling Manual.
You can read the complete, updated manual here:
https://manual.starling-framework.org/en/
This step was long overdue. To be honest, I donโt think I had a single Handbook sale in 2025 โ and for a long time now, that hasnโt really been the point anyway. Iโm still very proud of the Handbook and believe itโs a great resource for Starling developers. For that reason, the original Handbook PDF is still available for download โ unchanged from its final release.
And if youโve never had a copy before: nowโs your chance. ๐
The complete AsciiDoc-powered source of the manual is now available on GitHub as well:
https://github.com/Starling-Manual/Starling-Manual-EN/
Please consider this a small New Yearโs gift to the community. ๐ฅณ๐๐๐พ๐ฅ
All the best for 2026, everyone โ and thanks for sticking with Starling!
Cheers,
Daniel
