Hello friendly fellow feathers.
I havent been working a lot with AS / AIR in recent years but with the current onslaught/hype on "AI" I am wondering how many of you have tried converting Starling AS3 projects into HAXE/OpenFl or even other systems?
I tried just for fun to use Claude but this thing did not even "know" about the Haxe Installer and rather recommended homwbrew on the first attempt...
Subsequent questions led to it recommending the "AS3HX" tool.
When I wrote that "AS3HX" is no longer maintained I got:
You're right - AS3HX hasn't been actively maintained for some time now. The last significant updates were years ago, making it increasingly outdated for modern ActionScript 3 to Haxe conversions.
For current AS3 to Haxe/OpenFL migrations, most developers now:
- Use manual conversion approaches, especially for smaller projects
- Rely on the OpenFL documentation's migration guides
- Check community resources on the Haxe and OpenFL forums
- Leverage newer community tools that have emerged to fill this gap
😀
This makes me doubt the possibilities 🙂
Especially since I feel I am "talking" with a teflon-call-center-agent.
But maybe people here had good experiemces using other approaches?
