I know C++ has been used in place of ActionScript through Alchemy (CrossBridge). I was wondering if this could be done with Rust.
Sometime ago I found a project called wasm2swf, which could be a starting point, since Rust's rustup
has the target wasm32-unknown-unknown
. It seems complicated though as it involves using a flash.display.Loader
IIRC and you've to be aware of the low-level API Rust translates to.
Appreciate any advice!
Oh, more clarification... I want to write AIR programs in Rust because:
- it's an active language with more features and proper compiler,
- it has a robust IDE support,
- it has a robust package manager and
- it has an active community.
In some ways it's easier than ActionScript, in other ways harder, but pretty balanced. Rust would turn easier though if AIR were usable from Rust.
