You might have a look at Harmen's Release Notes for the AIR SDK, to see if something there may have addressed delays. A search for "audio" presented some possibilities on that page.

I suspect this is a similar concept to how games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band can be configured to account for delays between user input, and audio and visuals. I've not attempted something like this myself, but my first thought is that different devices will likely produce different delays, so it'd need to be something the user configures on their end.
The other thing I'm not certain of, is whether the delay varies, even on a single device, or between OS and software updates.
Hopefully others who've actually had to tackle these issues can shed more light on it.
