iOS15: What devs NEED to know?

Every developer conference, the mainstream blogs and media cover all the whizzbang stuff for the consumers, but I can rarely find a good list of what we, as devs, NEED to know to update our apps (like when Google requirements scared AIR devs), so I thought maybe we could maintain a thread here.

So here goes, here's what I came across from various sources:

iOS 15:

If your app allows users to create accounts, you MUST provide a way for them to also delete it now
The new notification settings look to mirror Android's "channels", so I'm guessing we will need ANEs to now specify the type of notification (Passive, Active, Time Sensitive, Critical)

Android

Haven't dove too deeply, but you can now enroll in the 15% commission program if you qualify

Anything else?

what if, account is created only for storing app/game related data & no personal information ???
Still this option needs to be there?

In my games there is no login option, but app related data is created & stored under device id in the database. This is required, otherwise they will simply create & delete to get all the freebies offered for a new user.

For iOS 15, one of the biggest changes coming up is also the usage of Social Logins. If the app is not using Social media features in it's core you basically cant use a social login:

(v) Account Sign-In: If your app doesn’t include significant account-based features, let people use it without a login. If your app supports account creation, you must also offer account deletion within the app. Apps may not require users to enter personal information to function, except when directly relevant to the core functionality of the app or required by law. If your core app functionality is not related to a specific social network (e.g. Facebook, WeChat, Weibo, Twitter, etc.), you must provide access without a login or via another mechanism. Pulling basic profile information, sharing to the social network, or inviting friends to use the app are not considered core app functionality. The app must also include a mechanism to revoke social network credentials and disable data access between the app and social network from within the app. An app may not store credentials or tokens to social networks off of the device and may only use such credentials or tokens to directly connect to the social network from the app itself while the app is in use.

Permissions now include more states, like the Location permissions is not authorized or not any more, there is also a mid level (Approximate location):

Thanks, I kinda glossed over the social stuff, but yeah, I think that sort of aligns with "let them delete their account". i.e. if you can sign up using FB or Twitter or whatever, if I allow you to delete your account, the social connection is broken.

Not storing social tokens... I get what they're going for there, but Apple isn't the only platform out there. I may need to do things on desktop, mobile web or android. For my uses, for example, Facebook, I only store the userid and not like a publish token or anything, but if I DID need it and requested it from the user, Apple shouldn't be able to tell me where and when I can use it.

To be honest that is already a thing if you are located in EU. With GDPR it is mandatory to include the option to delete the account.

Sadly Apple uses this always as a tool to force changes to apps, so that they make more money and they take part of their competitions pie.

Fun thing how Apple firstly made mandatory to use their apple sign in if you have a facebook login and now this..

Shaun_Max if the user isn't present it with a "register" system, then you are good.

If your user can register with a username, email or whatever gdpr, california privacy law, brazilian one and now ios15 makes you have a " delete my account option"
