https://discuss.as3lang.org/ Is the website closed?
Not really sure, I haven't been able to get it load since the beginning of the year.
We also have the discussion forum on github now in case anyone missed it's creation:
Well.. strange - the site was buzzing & then down overnight !!! & since so many days now...
Anything that starts to look promising for FLASH/AS3/AIR suddenly & strangely fizzles out.
The demise of so many promising 3D engines when flash on web was alive & rocking is just unbelievable .
Now AIR on mobile has such immense potential but for 3D - we are still hanging onto engines that are no longer supported by the original developers themselves...
So glad this discussion forum was started - Thanks
Earlier this year, a data center in France had a massive fire and a lot of the data was lost as a result. Several million websites and forums disappeared literally overnight. I suspect the as3lang might've been hosted there.
Streiffus The site IIRC went down Jan 1st 2021, like a new years resolution it seemed or something. Last time as3lang tweeted was Oct 11th 2020.
I would say, it has nothing to do with that fire, Haxe forum went down as well, this happened in March.
TeotiGraphix True- Also Zwetan's Twitter account I see is also suspended
While a bloated Unity with zillions of buttons passing as UI -chugs along with supposedly 48% share in the gaming world ...which could have so easily been dethroned by AIR with a robust IDE (flashdevelop) integrating - 3D engine (Flare3D/Away3D/Alternativa3D) - 2D engine (Nape/Box2d) - VR - AR ( Flashlabs/Wikitude) plus multitude of other libraries - ANE's - & supported by years of expertise & study materials..... Adobe embarks on AERO!!
An AR software that augments photoshop layers - with no mention of hardware whatsoever... All the best to them!!!
Anyways - hope HARMAN does what ADOBE couldn't. ... Its been promising so far...
CoachNair Do Harman have rights to turn AIR into a full featured 3D development IDE? Or do they only make maintenance and minor feature developments?
mumeka Harman seems to have the rights to do whatever improvements needed for AIR (Like change it to support AAB instead of apk for the upcoming August 2021 restriction). That been said I doubt that investing in a full featured 3d development IDE or engine would increase profit as user base is small if not tiny as it is. At this point I am more than happy with them at least keeping it alive for my old apps.
