2dguy we were planning on promoting the app after the 1st of the year, so it's just bad timing/luck on our part.
Yeah, I'm really sorry about that – the timing is really bad in this case. 😕
First, I wanted to use something different than AS3 for once, because I've been focused on it for quite a long time. 😉 So I evaluated a few options, and Flutter seemed most promising to me. Dart is a really great language - easy to learn, yet very powerful; and the Flutter API is really fast and flexible. It took a while to get used to its "reactive" style, though! Very different to what I was used to from Feathers and Starling, but it definitely has its merits.
leokan23 As an alternative, people might be interested on looking at gamesparks, app42 or backendless.
Thanks for listing a few more alternatives! 👍️
Shaun_Max 1) I still couldn't find an alternate leaderboard system that works like flox, returns everything in an array!
In a previous project where I couldn't use Flox for savegames and leaderboards, I used Distriqt's "Game Services" ANE to store this data via Apple's Game Center and Google's Play Game Services. I wrapped the API in one that feels rather "Floxish" – and it will give you highscores in a simple array.
For anyone who's considering the "Game Services" ANE as a replacement for Flox, I extracted the classes I used in my project and put them here for download. It's not very well documented, but the class and function names should explain most of what's going on. You will need to replace a few parts of the code (e.g. it's using Flox for logging), but otherwise it should be a good starting point. The main class to use is GameKit.
Again, the downside of "Game Services" is that setting up especially Google's part is quite a challenge. Expect vague error messages and outdated information. 🙄 But it's doable – and it's free (except for the ANE).
Shaun_Max 2) The logs, my players always complaint and logs really helped me to track things down!
Yup, that was a really helpful feature of Flox – and I don't know if there are other libraries available that could do that. 😐
