Parts of a strict compiler are syntax parsing, verification (that also solves symbol references) and codegen (for evaluation).
The SDK tools mxmlc and compc were built based in ASC 2, all written in Java. You can see Apache Flex SDK repo /modules.

Well, the codebase uses some hacks. I wish they didn't abuse of inheritance in codebase. But better than nothing, I guess!
