New forum engine! Read on if you can't log in...

The forum engine is full of nice touches. Here’s two or three that I only used yesterday properly.

Select a section of a previous message and a “Quote button appears over it. It not only quotes but adds the name of the person you are replying to with a link back to the source.

And this link is very special. Hover over it and you get a tooltip with the message being linked and quoted. That is unless that message is in view, as it often is when you immediately reply, in which case it just pulses the message subtly to show the link, not needing to put its contents in a tooltip.

Yes, that's really a cool feature! I like how the interface doesn't get in the way!

Something else that's easy to miss: if you click on the time stamp of a message (right next to the poster's name), you can easily put a link to this specific message into the clipboard.

Just a quick heads-up: I just upgraded to the latest version of the forum software Flarum 0.1 Beta 9. From my point of view, everything seems to work nicely — but if anyone encounters a problem, don't hesitate to tell me about it. Cheers!

... again, a new Flarum version has been released! Changes are described here. My favorite feature: there's now an "image" button in the markdown toolbar. 😄

Mrpean Just tell me the email address and username you'd been using, and the email address you want to use instead — I'll change this manually in the database!

Having trouble changing tags, both this thread and this I tried changing them to Libraries->Feathers tags which I've done before but I get an "Oops! Something went wrong. Please reload the page and try again." error each time. I have obviously tried reloading and trying again. Not a big issue but would be nice to have them in the proper place.

Yes, I can reproduce this — thanks for the reports!

There is a new Flarum version available that might fix this. However, I can't upgrade yet, because not all extensions have been prepared for that version yet. However, I'm sure that will only take a few days.

Just a quick update on this: the "Byobu"-plugin, which handles the private messages, has prevented me from updating Flarum to the latest version, because it's not yet compatible with it.

However, it is already being worked on and should hopefully be ready within the next few days; as soon as it's available, I can update Flarum, which will hopefully fix the tag issue.

Good news, everyone — thanks to the Byubo-plugin being updated, I could now finally update the forum engine as a whole. We're now on Beta 15, and everything seems to work fine, at least in my tests!

Just as I hoped, this also fixed the bug that we couldn't change the tags of existing posts. I've already changed them for the two links you mentioned, @JohnBlackburne, but we probably need to fix a few more.

Anyone, please just let me know if you run into any problems with the new version!

Just noticed a new feature (or maybe it's just been turned on): if you type an opening bracket, or quote, it inserts the closing bracket/quote at the same time. Just like an IDE, and quite nice. Triple backticks are supported too.

Have the urls to the RSS/Atom feeds changed?

ma Unfortunately, the RSS extension does not yet support the new Flarum version, as they changed many of the extension APIs. I'm monitoring this and will install the extension again once it's available!
