At the moment I am developing all my graphics etc to the ipad3 resolution and trying to scale the stage to fit in Ipad 1 .How do I achieve this? I have tried multiple things but the stage does not resize.
Also is this the better way? Or what to do to provide multi display capability.

Checkout the very latest version of Starling on github (post 1.0) as well as the Starling sample code (the iOS startup classes).
It shows how to use the new Starling.contentScaleFactor and built-in support for this on textures, etc.
There is an Asset class that shows how to load the 1x and 2x versions.
Works well for supporting 2x retina iPhone4 and iPad retina and 1x non-retina versions.
