As it was discussed here a few days ago people thought it would be a good idea to make a benchmark of the particle systems for Starling. So I made a basic one. It currently has a simple test for the 3 libraries on the wiki (FFParticleSystem/Stardust/SAP. No tests for Starling's default particle system, as I know FFParticleSystem is an improved version of it).
You can check the code and instructions how to build it at https://github.com/matyasf/particle-benchmark
The goal of the game is to add as many particles as possible while the FPS stays on average at 60.
- FFParticleSystem/SAP particle system/Stardust use the latest Github version as of 14/04/2015, Starling is v.1.6.0
- The increase/decrease buttons dont work for SAP.
- The number of particles counter might not be accurate for SAP and for FFParticleSystem
- For the sake of correctness: I am the author of the Stardust library. I tried to make all 3 simulations as similar as possible, but I am not an expert on FFParticleSystem/SAP particle system, so it might be possible to optimize them more. If you got any ideas make a comment/pull request!
