One of the first things that bothered me when porting my Starling game to Haxe (Html5 target) is that I could not figure out the best way to load assets.
Every Haxe framework loads assets in a different way. Flambe has preload and asset packs as part of the bootstrap and deals with complete events. Phaser has a loader class with explicit loading functions for different assets, and OpenFL just have 'embedded assets' through the project xml file.
Embedding assets does not seem like a good idea (in Starling it's a no-no). Most assets need to be loaded dynamically, sometime you need to release or reload stuff.
After going through all different frameworks, it is apparent that we would need a solution that works well with Starling, maybe something similar to Flambe's asset packs only simpler and easy to use.
Any ideas about that?
